Saturday marks the end of another fantastic Royal Ascot week but before the curtain closes on one of the biggest racing events of the year, there’s one more jam packed day to get through.
Here, we’ll preview every race on the final day in the hope we can land you some big winners. You can also catch every race live on ITV racing. Read on for more.
2.30pm – Chesham Stakes
Aidan O’Brien has a great record in this race, winning four of the last seven renewals. He clearly knows what it takes and it’s no surprise to see one of his runners, Pearls and Rubies, installed as favourite in the betting. It’s wide open, but we’re backing Ryan Moore’s mount.
3.05pm – Jersey Stakes
Covey will be all the rage with Frankie Dettori booked for the ride, but we’re looking further down the betting for our pick. Jim Crowley has already caused an upset in the Shadwell colours this week and he can do it again here with Enfjaar. He’s interesting dropped back to 7f after bolting up over a mile last time out.
3.40pm – Platinum Jubilee Stakes
A suitably competitive race could go the way of Kinross. Ralph Beckett’s six year old was a close up third to Modern Games at Keeneland last time out. The latter finished fourth in the Queen Anne Stakes on Tuesday. That’s a decent enough form boost and with Dettori on board, a win isn’t entirely unlikely at good odds.
4.20pm – Hardwicke Stakes
Hukum will come in for plenty of support for this one, however there’s a slight question mark over whether he will handle the quicker ground. For that reason, we’re leaning towards Frankie’s mount again in Free Wind. The mare has shown she has plenty in the tank and won comfortably over 1m6f in the Park Hill Stakes in September 2021. She goes well fresh and will be tuned and ready for a big run.
5.00pm – Wokingham Stakes
Probably the hardest race of the week to call, this handicap is wide open. Favourites have a pretty terrible record in this, so it’s probably best staying clear of the head of the market. A lot of these have struggled in quicker conditions in the past, but one that won’t have that problem is Khanjar. His second at Hamilton last time out offers plenty of encouragement.
5.35pm – Golden Gates Stakes Handicap
Another huge handicap to pick apart and our eye is caught by Lion of War in this one. His Musselburgh win last time out was the perfect warm up for this. Oisin Murphy returns to the saddle and can steer Charlie Johnston’s colt to victory.
6.10pm – Queen Alexandra Stakes
Willie Mullins and Stratum could line up for a hat trick of wins in this race. He’ll get similar conditions to 12 months ago and is more than capable of landing this a third straight time with William Buick booked to take the ride again for this one.
