Tottenham welcome Liverpool to North London in Saturday’s late Premier League kick off, as both teams continue their bids to challenge Manchester City at the top of the table.
Both sides have made good starts to their respective seasons and remain unbeaten so far. They’re doing well to remain within touching distance of leaders Manchester City and will be looking to take advantage should Wolves manage to get a result against the champions before this one kicks off.
These two have a rich history of providing entertaining clashes and we’re hoping for more of the same. Here, we’ll preview this clash and provide some betting predictions that we hope can land you some big returns.
Goals guaranteed
When these two meet, goals tend to follow. Both have found the net in each of their last six clashes and the way they’ve started this campaign, that is very likely to continue. Those six games have also produced a total of 23 goals, that’s an average of almost four goals per game. All things seem to point at a goalfest at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend, so the overs market will be popular.
Spurs have gone through a transition with new manager Ange Postecolgou coming in and Harry Kane departing for Bayern Munich. Many predicted them to struggle, but so far they’ve more than showed how capable they are. Last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal (which we predicted) was a strong message that they are here to compete and they look to be handful in attack, even without Kane.
Title chasers
Should Manchester City slip up, it’s Liverpool who are best placed to take advantage. The Reds are just two points off City at the top and with a win here, they could overtake their rivals. Jurgen Klopp’s men have made a habit of coming back from behind in games and Spurs have shown they are capable of mixing it with the best of them. The home side could make a quick start in this one, but even if they do, the visitors will grow into it.
If Spurs want to be title chasers, they need to be winning these sorts of games. Although they did well to come back and get a draw against Arsenal last week, they did look frail at the back in certain moments. Their style of play will invite pressure from Liverpool, which is something they excel at, so it’s a dangerous tactic against the Reds. Postecoglou has made it clear however that, regardless of who they face, this is the way they will play.
In form players
Both teams have some players in good form. Heung Min Son looks back to his goalscoring best and new recruit James Maddison is flourishing at his new home. Meanwhile, Liverpool’s attackers, namely Mo Salah and Darwin Nunez, have made excellent starts to their season. This one should be a great game.
